The Best Beaches in Vancouver

  • July 20, 2020

One of the top activities in Vancouver is checking out the city’s many beaches. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the calm waves of English Bay and the Burrard Inlet. Keep reading to discover the top four beaches to visit in Vancouver.

English Bay Beach

If you’re going to visit one beach in Vancouver, let it be English Bay Beach. This urban beach lies on the western edge of Stanley Park and is easily one of the most popular beaches in the city. Here you’ll find everything from swimmers and sunbathers to friends playing beach volleyball or throwing around a frisbee. For those looking to explore the city either pre or post beach, English Bay Beach has an ideal location next to the restaurants and shops of Denman Street.

Kitsilano Beach

Kitsilano Beach is one of the most glam beaches that Vancouver has to offer, making it a hotspot among both locals and visitors alike. Affectionately referred to as “Kits Beach” by the locals, this beautiful beach boasts stunning views of English Bay and the downtown Vancouver skyline. Best of all, for those that prefer swimming in a pool to the ocean, Kitsilano Pool (the longest outdoor pool in Canada) overlooks the bay and is open to the public.

Jericho Beach

Think of Jericho Beach as Kitsilano Beach’s quieter, calmer little sister. Jericho is typically less busy than Kits Beach but offers similar views of the bay and city. This makes it an ideal spot for a picnic date or a sunset stroll. It is also home to the Jericho Sailing Centre, a sailing club that is open to the public (no membership required). Here, you can rent paddle boards, kayaks, and even small sailboats.

Sunset Bay Beach

Sunset Beach is our personal favourite here at the Hotel BLU Vancouver. Not only is it roughly 25 minutes by foot from us, but it also happens to be one of the best places to watch the sun set in all of Vancouver. It’s also a fantastic spot for tourists exploring the city, as Sunset Beach has its own water taxi terminal. Hop on the water taxi and you can be in Granville Island, Yaletown, or Olympic Village within minutes!

If you want to check out any of these Vancouver beaches, then you’ll want to book a room at the Hotel BLU Vancouver. Within walking distance of the water, we combine excellent service and luxury amenities with an unbeatable location.
