Explore your best you in Vancouver

The new year is here. Find the best version of yourself by taking in the best of what Vancouver, BC has to offer you in January.

PATRICK WATSON

Patrick Watson is one of Canada’s most exciting songwriters. Not afraid to get a little personal and emotional, he writes about starting over. Currently on tour with his new album, Wave, he has taken major setbacks in his life, the death of his mother, a break-up with his longtime partner and changes to his band, and channeled these upheavals into introspective songs. Bouncing back from debilitating grief, he is an inspiration for those who are also in recovery. He will be performing at the legendary Vogue Theatre on January 16.

THE VANCOUVER SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, or VSO as it is known affectionately, routinely presents wonderfully inspirational performances of classical and contemporary music alike. The 2019-2020 season is no different. In the spring of 2020, the VSO celebrates the life and works of Beethoven, recreating a magical musical moment in 1808 when the legendary composer debuted his most iconic works. Check this link for a full list for upcoming performances and book something that interests you. Be prepared to be moved and mesmerized by these world-class musicians.

WEATHERED BEER FESTIVAL

Weathered is a beer festival that eschews the trappings of massive banquet halls, hundreds of vendors and thousands of attendees for a smaller, more intimate event that is more concerned with great taste.

Weathered is a combination of a curated beer festival and art exhibition. It takes place January 25 and 26 at Vancouver’s Heritage Hall and will feature “beers from 50+ Breweries, pouring rare and exciting stouts, lambics, barleywines, strong ales, sours/wild ales, plus even some hoppy and lager beers to cleanse that palate.” As well, it will showcase art from local artists that complement the ambiance of the event – casual but refined, relaxed but intensely aware. Weathered is a beer festival for the true aficionado who seeks to experience something new, something exciting, something pure.
